X-Rays and Brain Tumors: Things You Need to Know

A study came out recently that associates yearly or more frequent dental X-rays to an increased risk of developing meningioma, the most commonly diagnosed brain tumor. Before you freak out, let's shed some light on the subject.

First and foremost, the study focused on traditional X-ray technology as opposed to digital technology. North Palm Beach Dentistry uses only digital X-ray technology, which produces only 1/4 of the radiation generated by traditional X-rays. In addition, we always use lead aprons and thyroid collars on all of our patients to minimize radiation exposure even more, as recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA).
